NO YOUTH TAX!

We propose an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States that will force Congress to be fiscally responsible to its current citizens by outlawing Congress' abusive power to indebt future generations before they even have the right to vote on their unwilling accumulation of such debts, and inevitable taxation as a result.  "No Taxation Without Representation" was the slogan of the American Revolution, the Right to Representation is explicitly acknowledged in the Declaration of Independence as a right, and the Preamble of the Constitution itself states that it is dedicated to "Ourselves and Our Posterity".  The very definition of "posterity" is "all future generations".  Involuntarily indebting children and disproportionately burdening future generations with what amounts to a "youth tax" is anti-American, ageist, and anti-youth.  We therefore submit a first draft for such an Amendment, and humble ourselves before our peers and our parents and invite every American citizen to join us as we implore members of Congress who care about our country and our future to read, revise and ratify this Amendment for No Taxation Without Representation.

NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION AMENDMENT:
Upon the first day of the first year following the ratification of this Amendment, Congress shall not compel any citizen of the United States to pay for any taxation on the interest nor the principle of debts authorized before that citizen was eligible to vote for representation in the Congress.  Only a formal Declaration of War by Congress shall override this policy, and only for war-related debts.

Please note that this Amendment is only a "rough draft" intended to spark the debate and start the fire for the No Youth Tax cause.  Debate about this Declaration and the proposed Amendment will be necessary to fully satisfy our "concurring" opinions.

PREMISE:
The most important part of any political movement is its future. And yet, according to the Associated Press, "A survey released Oct. 21 by Harvard University's Institute of Politics showed that only 11 percent of those 18 to 29 consider themselves supporters of the tea party [in the United States]." The statistics are even worse in other countries. These statistics show that Tea Party Students is nothing less than a campaign to save the Tea Party movement from extinction.

STRATEGIES

  • Tea Party Students utilizes an "umbrella networking" strategy to make itself the outermost sphere of the Tea Party's student wing.  To do so, TeaPartyStudents.Org functions as both a social network and free market for all Tea Party student and youth movements.  This is why Tea Party Students really is "The official home of the Tea Party's student wing."  We don't own or control a faction within the movement, we provide the free-market platform for the entire movement, upon which destiny may unfold without the perverting effects of coercion.
  • Tea Party Students utilizes a "super-grouping" strategy by helping all members and groups opt-in to recognition and/or resources from open-networking allies, including the Leadership Institute, Students For Liberty and Young America's Foundation.
  • Tea Party Students utilizes a "caucusing" strategy to make itself compatible with closed-network, chapters-based allies - including Young Americans for Freedom and Young Americans for Liberty - by supporting Tea Party caucuses within YAF and YAL chapters.
  • NOTE:  Potentially, any organization willing to support students and/or youth with recognition and/or resources in a servant-leadership philosophy of no strings attached may become a valued component of the Tea Party Students super-grouping strategy.  Similarly, any organization willing to support the missions of Tea Party students within their own chapters may become a valued component of the Tea Party Students caucusing strategy.
